The Philara Collection is pleased to present echoes, Stefan Brüggemann's first solo institutional exhibition in Germany. Brüggemann's artistic practice is rooted in the dialogue between language and visual expression. The artist examines the mechanisms of mass media, such as advertising and film, and explores the extent to which these may influence perception of language as a system of signs.

The exhibition at the Philara Collection brings together works from the last fifteen ten years, including several of his key series, new, small-format works on paper and spray paintings. The show unfolds into a field of reverberations, where works echo one another conceptually, visually, and linguistically.
